Who am I?

My name is Matthew Ullmer, although I prefer Matt, and I am currently a Junior by credits at Oregon State University and a student employee at NACSE. I'm also a member of the University Honors College here at OSU. Which basically gets me into smaller classes, one on one time with professors, and theoretically smarter peers to study with. My major is Computer Engineering and I'll be minoring in Computer Science at least, possibly more than one minor as I get the CS minor simply for completing my Computer Engineering major.

Interests

For the last few years I've been rather interested in video games, computer games, and poker. Poker is an off and on interest, but mostly because I can never find a live poker game to get into. I tried the whole online poker thing and I find that the odds are too messed up, the best hand pre-flop rarely wins and not much poker actually takes place on the hold'em table. People just bet bet bet, and don't even think about what the other players at the table are thinking, or strategize at all.

As far as computer games go, my latest addiction is to Battlefield 2. My brother and his friend Sims (he has a first name but nobody ever uses it, so hes just Sims) said it was a great game and to try it out. I bought it in the middle of August and have been playing it ever since. I'm certainly not the best at the game, but I have managed to kill enemy characters with the medic shock paddles to my extraordinary delight when my character yelled "Clear!" and killed the enemy player. My friend just bought MOO3 (Master of Orion 3) which has turned out to be the most complicated, most involved game to play. So hard to learn and play that I don't think its really worth it to try.

Video games are my other addiction, obviously these are games on the console rather than the PC. I recently bought an Xbox 360, and it is sweet. Oblivion is possibly the best game out for the system as of now, but many many games that fully utilize the system are being released very soon now. I'm looking forward to Crysis, which is probably the most realistic FPS game ever to be made. I am also looking forward to the latest installment in the Halo series (Halo 3). I hope they fix the ridiculous modding that goes on with it, and the expense of the new system will probably keep modders at bay for awhile. Until then I'm stuck playing Halo 2 on the Xbox 360.

I had taken to playing CounterStrike again, mostly due to boredom and Battlefield 2 takes far too much time to load up and lags out a lot. I was ranked #1 on the server that I played with little effort, but I gave that up. Sometimes there comes to lay a dinosaur to rest for good. I have all but uninstalled it from my computer, and I haven't done that because I'm lazy.
