NACSE - Advanced IT for Scientists and Engineers

At the Northwest Alliance for Computational Science & Engineering (NACSE, pronounced "knacks") we apply new technologies to the needs of scientists, engineers, and natural resource managers. We design, implement, and deploy large-scale software systems that integrate complex data from diverse sources to enable science-based decision-making.

Each system is targeted to the needs of a specific interdisciplinary partnership, most of them addressing a critical issue like weather and climate, alternative energies, or tsunamis. That means the data is typically very large-scale and a heterogenous mix of formats (grids, natural language, raster/vector datasets, real-time data feeds, etc.). We work directly with our target users to make sure we understand not just their needs, but how they will apply specific functionality in their daily tasks.
